Happy New Year!

January 8, 2012

As this is the first post on My OpenLeaf Journey blog for this year – a big HAPPY NEW YEAR to you all. I had a relaxing ten day break and a particularly quiet but lovely Christmas at home with my wonderful family. I also started back at work this week with a positive attitude now that I’m back to normal working hours five days a week. It did, however, get a tiny bit stressful part way through the week when train delays and a trip to another office further away, made me feel like I wasn’t getting the benefits of getting home earlier to spend time with the family (which I had been really looking forward to).

An email from Noel  Walker (founder of OpenLeaf and author of Get the Life you Want) contained the following positive words, which helped me to think differently about this situation:

“Stay focused on the things you want, and continue to free yourself of those limiting beliefs by relaxing and going with the flow. Acknowledging that these delays and the fact that you have to work from the office uptown are all part and parcel of this transitionary stage, and an excellent sign – it will soon pass, and the silver lining and benefits will soon come flooding through!”

I ended the week feeling happy and loving my new working hours, as each day we ate dinner a little earlier and I got to sit down for a while with the girls and read stories to them before they went to bed. I also went to bed early myself on Friday night to watch a feel good film called ‘The Family Man’, which ended the week nicely.

I did sort of lose yesterday to an ‘all day’ headache (and part of today) but I think that is part and parcel of the new routine and trying to get to grips with fitting things in a little differently. As you know from previous posts, I don’t get my Friday off anymore but I believe it’s all for the best.

I must learn to remember, that I won’t miss out’ on anything by doing this new routine. ‘Missing out’ is the subject of next weeks post, so don’t miss it…see you then.
