Exciting writing success!

November 4, 2011

“Everything is linked.  The only way we can ever experience our ultimate goal in life is to discover our true purpose and what it is that intrinsically and passionately motivates us.”

Noel Walker, Get the Life you Want

The past week has certainly been less stressful than the one prior to that.  As usual I have spent quite a lot of time building up my new freelance writing career (writing, blogging, doing course work and so on) - that is when I am not doing my main job.  I am so passionate about writing and I can see the path ahead a lot clearer than I used to.  Every day I ‘tweet’, write notes on the train, do my course work, reply to emails at lunchtime, and blog away on my computer late at night.

There have been two main highlights this week – one is about my writing success and the other one I’ll keep for another day.

Technorati article

Last weekend, I made a second attempt to write and post an article on Technorati (a blogging platform seen by millions every month).  I even took my own picture to go with the blog rather than using an online image.

I was writing it late at night and after re-reading it a few times, my intuition was telling me to ’just send it – so what if this one gets rejected.  What have you got to lose? ’  As Noel Walker (Founder of OpenLeaf) says, in order for things to change, you have to step out of your comfort zone.  Here’s a quote from his book Get the Life you Want:

“Following your intuition will always hold you in good stead, but it is pointless if you lack the self-confidence to act on it.”

So, I clicked send and the next day received an automated email from the Technorati editor with ‘published’ in the subject line. I was thrilled and immediately responded to express my thanks.  Apparently it was on the home page last weekend.  Here’s a link to the article on the Technorati website if you would like to read it Is Work-Life Balance for a Working Parent a Myth? .  I am going to aim to submit one article per week.

The second exciting event, I’ll post separately over the weekend (I don’t like making blogs posts too long!).  Please see below to receive further instalments by email, Twitter or Facebook.

Before my next instalment you can follow my updates on Twitter @OpenLeafJourney and on my new OpenLeaf Journey Facebook page click here to view. Can I just say what a relief to find someone who actually knows what theyre talking about on the internet. You definitely know how to bring an issue to light and make it important. More people need to read this and understand this side of the story. I cant believe youre not more popular because you definitely have the gift.
